Wired and wireless access changes are under way. Are you prepared? Wireless network: Effective April 27, 2017 access to the secure wireless network is only be accessible to: -Personally-owned devices enrolled in AirWatch. These will connect to the 8021X wireless network. -Institutionally-owned devices with the CoreImage platform (computers configured and managed by Health Information Technology & Services). These will connect to the "MFleet" wireless network. Wired network: Restrictions for devices connecting to the wired network by Ethernet cable are being implemented gradually over the course of 2017. Access to the wired network will only be available to CoreImage devices and those inventoried and reconfigured by HITS teams. Get ready for the change 1. Identify -If your computer is not a CoreImage device and has not been managed by HITS, you will need to have it reconfigured to access the wired or wireless network. -If you have a personally-owned device (smartphone, laptop, or tablet), it must be enrolled in AirWatch to connect to the UMHS-8021X wireless network. 2. Prepare: Check your storage Having under 50 GB of data stored on your computer will help minimize the time it takes to migrate your computer to the CoreImage. Back up your device Back up your device before you install AirWatch on your personal device or have your institutional device migrated to the CoreImage platform. Use U-M Box or an encrypted flash drive for this. Having your device reconfigured Deployment teams will be reaching out to departments to get devices configured to the CoreImage. HOWEVER, to beat the rush, we encourage you to self-schedule an appointment with us now. This site is very easy to use and you can select your preferred time. Schedule Once you have made your appointment, one of our staff members will get back to you and walk you through the process. You may be asked to: -Run a preparatory inventory tool on your computer. -Identify anything unique about your setup (Linux device, runs data process for longer than 24 hours, connected to research equipment, etc.) -Schedule a time for your computer migration.
